Jackal. By far my most-used mount and always set as default. GW2 consisting mostly of uneven environment with slopes and obstacles, the jackal feels to me the most natural way to navigate the maps. Also, no fall damage and extremely fast and tight turning when the situation calls for it. Used jackal first, ran around, jumped off to jump on the shrooms, mounted up to the next shroom switched to bunny and ran on my bunny to the one on the ledge, switched mount again and used two jackal jumps to get the last one and the finish. You do need to set some mount shortcuts though. (Mine are like alt + 1 through 6)

To get a Jackal mount, you need a Skimmer to travel around the desert in The Desolation. Having a Springer also helps you get up to the platform where the heart vendor is. You will also need 200 Trade Contracts + 20 gold to buy it from Drojkor, Spirit Squall. Complete the heart to get him to sell it to you.

you will need jackal to get some masteries in pof and travel in lws4 maps using jackal portals. ie. when u want to do dragonfall meta you will see how important to get reach some locations. i use jackal most its evading and speed is just what i need. easiest thing is getting pof masteries, most of them just commune. you can lvl by farming yellow mobs with kill streak and exp boosters. or just

The 20 gold for the jackal initially floored me on the expense, but I'm okay with it for what it gives back. It's a one-time unlock too, if that helps at all. 250 for the griffon is a challenge and I shall overcome it in the next week or so (back to work in the daytimes and all that).
Some chests can have up to 25 contracts in them too. At this point play the game, focus on the events. Also investigate everything. I didn't have any trouble with having enough to get the mounts as I got to them. I also didn't rush straight to each mount I explored a bit on The way.

A mount race in the Mad King's Raceway where you need to race through all the checkpoints as quickly as possible. Talk to the Time Trial NPC to start the adventure, or talk to the Mad Race Master to join the event. Players without a mount can rent the jackal mount for 10 from the Mad Stablehand.
