I'll bet my TDi GT gets more than double the fuel economy compared to a GTi petrol. Fuel cost is just 4pence/litre here. Maxed @ 68mpg during last summer. Servicing is every 10,000 miles, which is perfectly fine. I'm driving 18,000miles/year, so the extra cost for the diesel engine has already paid for itself since Sep '13.I have a 2009 Golf mk6 SE 1.6 TDI, 105 PS (5 Door), bought second hand from an Essex (London) VW dealership. The car had one previous owner (not private, most probably used as a company car) and had done 12, 000 miles on the clock. I've only had the car for a month and am a bit disappointed with the fuel consumption.
Top speed is limited by 200 km/h (124 mph). The engine has a Euro6 standard. Fuel tank capacity is 50 liters. Consumption in city is 4.6 lt/100km, consumption in highway is 3.6 lt/100km and combined fuel consumption is 4.1 lt/100km according to official factory data. Estimated Golf Variant 1.6 TDI BMT real World MPG/consumption is 6,0 lt/100km.
