Posted November 9, 2016. I spent over a thousand to have my 690 revalved and setup properly. My suspension guy said the 690 is setup more like a MX bike, able to survive big air jumps and pounding whoops. It will never be compliant on trials without some work. Also the rear is under-sprung with too much preload.
Anyway, after this adjustments, lever fits well. However, it is not shorter than OEM lever, so my little finger is still in jeopardy. I will keep on searching for shorter lever. I found that OEM clutch lever for 2012 KTM 450 SX-F should be exact fit. Part number is 50302031300, and price is just bellow 50 EUR. The KTM's are the extremes. The EXC's will be much better dirt bikes than the WRR and the 690 will be a much better road bike. To me, the WRR fits in the middle. It's both a solid road bike and a solid dirt bike that can take you down pretty much any trail a novice to intermediate rider would probably go. 1.75 m. Never had any problems, neither with the Motard kit nor enduro kit. IMO it's just a matter of habit. Of course, in enduro the height helps you to manage the bike better, but even if you are short you can still carry it. It is a little more difficult but not impossible. I've done OBCDR for 8 days on it carrying everything, with 3 other riders, 2 of which also bought 690's (and also amateur racers), the other was a retired pro that picked an rxv. We all found it the perfect long distance light adventure bike. It does ride tall which is a turn off for shorter riders.
2022 KTM 250/450 SX-F. Notes: The stock bar bend dimensions on the orange brigade is also decent, but it’s too stiff and long (insert your own joke here). If you don’t think it’s too stiff, you can simply cut the bar to 805mm and run it! Preferred: Pro Taper EVO Race Team cut to 805mm (W)810 (H)91 (R)49 (S)52.
For comparison, KTM’s 690 SMC-R – surely the new Hypermotard’s closest rival – has a bigger 693cc engine and peaks at 73.8hp and a much lower 8,000rpm. The Ducati’s torque is 46.3lb-ft at 8,000rpm, reflecting the downside of such a high-revving engine. For comparison, the KTM makes 52.4lb-ft at 6,750rpm thanks to its larger capacity.
Some may say this is a dangerous way to mount the bike but it works for me and other short riders. I can't speak for others but many a dirt bike rider who's bike doesn't have a kick stand mount their rides this way also.

Dirt Rider magazine says the 690 is a winner in a 1 bike class. So no comparison the KTM will own the XT but the KTM cost 30%+ More $$$$. DR did an article on the 650 Japanese D.S. bikes than one on the 690 because it just couldn't compare to the others.
